Lisa Houk

Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, Board Certified Lisa Houk has had the privilege of serving as an NP (Nurse Practitioner) in the Denton and Grayson Counties since 2001, first in Cardiology & Bio-identical Hormone Care in Denton then Family Practice in Pilot Point and expanding to Lake Kiowa. She and her husband, Jay, became owners of North Texas Family Medicine in September 2004. They serve over 11,000 patients with homes as far as 27 various states in America.

Lisa Leeann (Jones) Houk was born in Richardson, Texas. She was later raised as a Baptist missionary kid in Stuttgart Germany from 1979 to 1990 attending American military school. Her family started the International Baptist Church of Stuttgart now hosting 54 different nations. Lisa played Basketball for
Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and earned her undergraduate degree there in 1994. After attending San Angelo University and Texas Tech University, she graduated from Hardin-Simmons in 2000 with her masters and started her career in Houston in Internal Medicine.

Her ultimate passion is being with her family. She affectionately refers to her husband, Jay, as one that keeps her laughing and enjoying life while staying focused on the most important things of life, her God and their children. She is very proud of her children: son, Sam, daughter-n-law, Morgan, and daughters Katelin, and Raelin. Samuel Custis, named after his great grandmother, is working towards his Aerospace and Mechanical Engineer degree at Oklahoma State University. Morgan Leigh has earned her Business degree in order to be an entrepreneur owning her Mobile Dog Groomer service. Katelin Marie, named after her two grandmothers, is enjoying her High school years in multiple sports (namely Pole vaulting) and band. She aspires to be a Pediatric Nurse or Dyslexia Teacher. Raelin Joy is her miracle baby as one of a set of triplets. (Raelin Joy knows she will see her sisters, Faith and Hope, in heaven one day.)

Lisa loves to diversify her career through every step of her journey. She worked every aspect of the hospital: ER, ICU, PCU, Labor & Delivery, Surgery, Medical/Surgical, Home Health, Long-term care, Charge Nurse, and finished her RN work as Hospital Supervisor. As a Nurse Practitioner, she delights in caring for all ages for all health concerns but especially enjoys suturing, mole removals, cosmetics, bio-identical hormones, and nutrition. Her love is to get people OFF medicine by improving their daily choices. She leaves a legacy by developing NP students from Texas Tech, Texas Women’s, Tarleton State, and University of Arlington, among others.

She became a personal Certified Health Coach with Villanueva School of Nursing in 2011 through the MacDonald Program sponsored by Optavia. (Look her up on www.lisahouk/optavia.com.) She has supported countless lives across the globe in losing AND keeping weight off long-term after losing 58 lbs herself in 2011. She feels blessed to be able to relate to people in paying their health dreams forward.

Like her on Facebook at LisaJonesHouk and NTFamilyMedicine. Her joy is encouraging others to aspire better health for themselves more than they imagine possible. She is a patient advocate (not judge) through inspiring people to believe in themselves and enjoy a full, balanced life.
